Five COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded in the country today increasing the coronavirus death toll to 29.
The deaths were confirmed by Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunaratne.
A 46-year-old male, a resident of Colombo 2, passed away at the Pimbura Base Hospital yesterday.
The individual was identified as a long-term kidney disease related patient.
Meanwhile a 68-year-old female, a resident of Wellampitiya, was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital with chest pains and passed away last evening.
She was confirmed to have tested positive for COVID-19.
Furthermore, a 58-year-old female, a resident of Colombo 12, also suffered chest pains and was confirmed to have passed away at her residence.
She tested positive for COVID-19 during the PCR test conducted at the post-mortem examination.
A 73-year-old female, a resident of Colombo 14, who suffered from chronic lung illnesses passed away at her residence and was confirmed to have contracted COVID-19.
Meanwhile a 74-year-old male, passed away due to a heart attack at his residence while the post-mortem examination revealed he had contracted coronavirus.
