The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) says the general public should not eat raw fish, but without any fear can consume well-prepared meals.
Speaking during a media briefing, Editor of the GMOA Dr. Haritha Aluthge said following the emergence of the Minuwangoda Fish Market COVID-19 cluster, the public has resorted to alternatives.
He said venders had to face numerous obstacles to sell their stocks as the public had refrained from purchasing fish.
Dr. Aluthge said the public should not need to have undue fear however cautioned that meat and fish in general should be washed and well-cooked for consumption.
Dr. Aluthge also requested the public to follow the advice of health authorities.
