The Office of the Prime Minister has refuted an article published in a national newspaper claiming Temple Trees has been temporarily closed due to COVID-19, claiming it is completely false and baseless.
The Prime Minister’s Media Secretary Rohan Weliwita said no official attached to the Prime Minister’s Office or Temple Trees has tested positive for COVID-19.
Issuing a statement he said the individual identified as a COVID-19 patient was from an external unit affiliated with the Prime Minister’s security unit and security unit officials deployed on duty within the Prime Minister’s Office and the Temple Trees continue to remain on duty.
Rohan Weliwita noted only a group of essential officials have been deployed for duty at the Prime Minister’s Office and the Temple Trees, similar to other state institutions and Ministries.
The statement added operations of the Task Force headed by former Minister Basil Rajapaksa are operating without any obstruction at the Temple Trees premises.
