The government is considering vaccinating children above the age of 12 against the coronavirus.
Speaking to media, State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Channa Jayasumana said all individuals above 60 years of age, those above 30 and persons above 18 will be vaccinated.
The State Minister assured according to the plan they will consider vaccinating those above 12 years as well.
The State Minister added a plan must be in place to vaccinate groups claiming the government has no concerns in funding the vaccination drive.
The State Minister said the health sector has prioritised vulnerable individuals and frontline healthcare workers for COVID jabs.
He claimed developed countries are also following a similar procedure approved by the World Health Organisation.
State Minister Jayasumana assured the government is not expecting personal profits through vaccinations.
