3,806 COVID-cases recorded today; the highest thus far

Sri Lanka today recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases reported in a single day since the pandemic broke out.

3,806 new infections were confirmed thus far today increasing the total coronavirus caseload to 373,165.

3,793 individuals were identified as part of the New Year COVID-19 cluster, while 12 persons who arrived in the island from overseas also contracted the virus.

2,186 individuals earlier recovered from COVID-19 and were discharged raising Sri Lanka’s total coronavirus recoveries to 318,714.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 47,847 persons are currently receiving treatment for coronavirus at several facilities across the country.
