Army vested with powers to administer Pfizer jab

The Sri Lanka Army has been vested with the authority to administer the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine under the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

The decision was reached after various discrepancies were reported from several areas including Puttalam.

Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva said therefore after taking such matters into consideration, administration of the Pfizer vaccine will be led by the Army in future.

The Army Commander said the Pfizer vaccine will not be administered to any individual who is not eligible to receive the vaccine under the normal procedure.
