’32 expectant women have succumbed to COVID thus far’

The Family Health Bureau says 32 expectant women have succumbed to the coronavirus in Sri Lanka thus far.

Speaking during a media briefing today, Director of the Bureau Dr. Chithramalee de Silva said 900 expectant women are currently receiving treatment for the virus.

Dr. de Silva said about 75 percent of expectant women have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

She requested expectant women who have not been vaccinated yet to promptly get vaccinated and protected against the coronavirus.

The Director said 4,200 expectant women have thus far contracted COVID-19 adding the possibility of the virus spreading amongst expectant women is significantly higher.
