Cabinet Spokesman Minister Dullas Alahapperuma says there is no involvement of the military in civil activities in the country.
Minister Alahapperuma said even during recent protests, no force was used by the government.
He said therefore the government is not trying to militarize and intimidate the public.
Speaking during the weekly Cabinet decisions media briefing at the Department of Government Information, the Minister said considering the present climate in the country, two articles related to emergency regulations have been used by the government to ensure uninterrupted supply of essentials to the public.
Minister Alahapperuma stressed that Sri Lanka is one of the oldest members of the United Nations and it respects and accepts ideals of the UN.
He said therefore the government will continue to fulfill its international obligations while working for the best interest of the citizens.
