Another four million doses of the Chinese manufactured Sinopharm vaccine, procured by the Sri Lankan government, arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport this morning.
The consignment of vaccines arrived in the island onboard a SriLankan Airlines special charter flight from Beijing.
This is the second time that Sri Lanka has procured such a large number of vaccine doses.
SriLankan Airlines transported the consignment of four million doses, packed in 800,000 boxes.
The SriLankan Airlines charter flight UL-865 carrying the consignment landed at the BIA at 12:45 this morning.
The boxes that were unloaded at the airport were immediately moved to the cold storage facility at the BIA.
They will be transported to the central vaccine storage unit of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority subsequently.
