Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan says all those who are responsible for the killing of a Sri Lankan man in Sialkot will be punished with the full severity of the law.
Over 50 persons have been arrested thus far over the incident.
A mob has attacked a sports equipment factory in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province today, and killed a Sri Lankan man.
Pakistan media reported that the mob had burnt his body publicly.
A police chief in the Sialkot district where the killing occurred said that factory workers had accused the victim of desecrating posters bearing the name of Prophet Muhammad.
Videos circulating on social media showed a mob dragging the man’s heavily bruised body out to the street, where they burned it in the presence of hundreds of demonstrators who cheered on the killers.
Police has said there are still trying to determine what exactly prompted the mob to kill the Sri Lankan, whose body was sent to a hospital for an autopsy.
