Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has called President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and said 113 persons have been arrested so far after a mob attacked and murdered a Sri Lankan manager at a factory in Sialkot.
“All the videos and information related to the incident have been obtained by the Pakistani security forces,” a statement from President’s office said.
“The Pakistani Prime Minister said that 113 suspects have already been arrested and the search for the remaining suspects is ongoing.”
“The Prime Minister of Pakistan informed the President that Priyantha Kumara, a Sri Lankan who had served in Pakistan for a long time, had shown a high level of professionalism as a manager.
“The Prime Minister further stated that the perpetrators have no mercy from God and they will not be given any pardon by the law as well.”
The Sri Lankan who was a manager at an apparel factory in Sialkot had been killed with a crowd accusing him of blasphemy after he took down some posters of an extremist group.
In Sialkot two brothers had been killed by a mob in 2010 as well accusing them of being robbers, reports said while police watched.
There had been outrage in Pakistan over the killing of the Sri Lankan. In South Asia police watch as religious extremists attack minorities or damage their properties.
