President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today engaged in an observation tour of the Thamba Pavani Power Plant which is owned by the Ceylon Electricity Board.
The Thamba Pavani Wind Power Plant in Mannar is expected to add another 50 MW of power to the national grid.
The President’s Media Division said the Head of State inquired into its progress and instructed officials to prepare a report on the locations where new wind farms could be built.
At present, 248 MW of power is being added to the national grid by wind power plants.
The PMD said the purpose of the visit by the President was to explore the possibility of promoting the plant in a short period of time while the Head of State also oversaw all operations of the power plant.
